Some of the national field service firms believe that field service inspectors are STUPID.
One field service firm sends work to inspectors by posting jobs at their web server. The location of the inspection site is listed, but there is NO description of the scope of the work or the inspection fee paid. Yet, they ask inspectors to ACCEPT the jobs posted.
Can you image how STUPID an inspector would have to be to accept an inspection without knowing the SCOPE of the work and the FEE? Do you want to work half a day inspecting and reporting on a property to 30-days later learn that the inspection fee was only $25?
Yes, some of these national field service firms think that you are as STUPID as a brick. When you accept any inspection where you don't know the fee paid or the scope of the work ... I would call that being STUPID. I hope that is NOT you.
Life is all about making decisions. The difference between successful inspectors and unsuccessful inspectors is the decisions they make. Don't make stupid decisions. If a firm wants you to perform any inspection without knowing the fee and the scope of the work, you need to politely walk away as fast as you can. Get jury duty ... tell them that you are now full time on a court jury for the next 90 days and are unable to perform their NO SCOPE/NO FEE INSPECTIONS. Play the game ... don't get involved with field service firms that want to take advantage of you. TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE NOT STUPID.
John Wayne, the actor, said "Life is tough. Life is really tough when you are stupid". "The Sands of Iwo Jima" (Republic Pictures, 1949).
