Mortgage field inspector's comments.
This is [name deleted] and I have been a field agent now going on 5 yrs. I have really seen the mortgage sector go down.. I started out doing orders for [name deleted], and Richard we were getting anywhere from 6.00 to 10.00 per order. Then when [name deleted] took over [name deleted] went out of business, I then went to work for a company called [name deleted] where we took a pay cut down to 4 per order, I was with them for about 4 months and they said that they were picking up a contact with [name deleted] so we would be safe with plenty of work, then all of a sudden they called and said that they were shutting there doors because [name deleted] wanted to only pay them 3 per order and that they paid us more than that. Richard then I got a call from a company called [name deleted] and they were entering Ga for [name deleted] and they were paying 3 but they had tighter coverage area and lots of volume.... Again this lasted about two month and they called and said that after we had caught up all of the late work for [name deleted] they [name deleted] pulled there contract. So Richard, I have went thru 3 companies in the last yr in the mortgage reports sector... Not to mention a pay change... Richard, I really like doing field reports but I feel that I need to change my direction and maybe get into doing commercial reports. My question to you is how do I get into the commercial arena and what is the requirements. Again, I am here in Georgia. Please advise me on how to stay in the field service business.

The MORTGAGE segment of the field services industry is the home of low-fee mortgage inspections and instability. Today you are performing mortgage inspections and tomorrow they are all gone. The well goes dry. The inspector emails below will show how your life can be affected overnight.
Read the below two inspector postings that were sent to me by an inspector. They tell a story about instability in the MORTGAGE SEGMENT ... the home of the lowest fee inspections and 99% of all of the problems in the field services industry.
The MORTGAGE SEGMENT is a bad neighborhood. Hang out in the insurance and commercial segments as they are much better neighborhoods with higher fees and higher quality companies. Network with other inspectors and learn from them.

Bank of America (BAC) inspections are moving again. BAC has bailed out
of the field services business. LPS and MCS have have seen more of their
BAC work go to Safeguard. These firms are NOT listed in our National Field Service Directory as the inspection fees they offer are so low.
It's not unusual to have 1,000 of these low-fee inspections one day and
ZERO the next day. Some national field service firms will dump you and then make you wait 90 days to get paid. You will make more money and have more security by
working for the higher quality firms that pay the higher fees. Your car
will last longer and you won't need a higher credit limit on your gas
credit card as gas prices continue to increase in 2013.
