The home is the office of most field service representatives. When your everyday business costs increase, you need to pass along these costs to your customers. You cannot perform inspections in 2013 at 20-year old 1993 prices and expect to make a reasonable profit. Some property preservation firms are today paying $15 for a grass cut and $15 for a trip charge. When you are performing the low-fee inspections and property preservation tasks you are not performing higher-fee tasks for the higher quality firms.
There are some great opportunities in the field services industry. If you aim high, you will have success. If you aim low, you will just work very hard and not make any money. The choice is really yours. The better jobs are not on Craig's List.
