Background checks are a good idea and understandable for an insurance company. As a banker/loan underwriter/mortgage processor for over 25 years I am now unable to secure a job at a bank or credit union only because my credit report reflects some charge offs due to an ex-husband taking the collateral along with the loan but defaulting on the loan. This adversely affects my credit thus denying me continued employment in my career.
Changing careers to be a field inspector makes sense with my background, however they not only are wanting to run a background check but also a credit check. Are they concerned with negative credit like the bank industry is? I've passed background and drug checks with flying colors, it is my credit history that is holding me back from employment.
