Some firms just like to waste a field inspector's time and then not pay inspectors for the mistakes made by the tasking firm. The latest case is where a firm sent an inspector to a bad address on an insurance inspection. To get paid they then want the inspector to travel to the correct address which is way out of his service area. They won't pay extra for extra out-of-area service. The inspector refuses the out-of-area assignment and is not paid for the bad address inspection.
We are talking here about a ten dollar inspector and not a $100 inspection. This inspector has already told another hundred inspectors about the firm not paying for a bad address. The hundred inspectors have each passed it along to other inspectors.
The firm lost a lot more than they gained. The firm executives probably don't even know how badly this inspector was treated. Some vendor manager is wasting the firm's resources and wasting the time of the inspector. Many vendor managers have no decision-making authority on a ten dollar inspection.
MyraAnne Healey has a social network of inspectors ... she talks to them every day. Email [email protected] and she will pass along the information on the ugly firms along to field inspectors.
Don't let firms mistreat you ... tell others about your bad experiences. Networking is very important. They will soon get the word.
